Dubai Fashion Forward: Velsvoir x Patrick Hellmann Debut Show

Having started with just one tweet and one product (the infamous bow tie), under two years ago, Velsvoir has grown a dual presence in London and Dubai.

A busy start to 2014, has seen the brand showcase a presentation with Patrick Hellmann at Café Royal for LC:M and design / style complete staff uniforms for the newly launched GQ Bar in Dubai.

Fashion Forward is the equivalent of fashion weeks across the world and Dubai serves as the perfect backdrop for emerging talent. Through the support of Dubai Design District (d3), the UAE is positioning itself as the premier destination for all things creative.

Still in its early stages, the fundamentals for which to sustain fashion week and the wider community are already forming well.

Given their relationship with Patrick Hellmann, it was only natural that Velsvoir collaborated for a second time this year, bringing their creativity to a new audience.

The classic European aesthetic was adapted for the modern Dubai gentleman, reflecting the changing landscape for the UAE, drawing upon traditional tailoring heritage yet mixed with a rakish flair.

The fabrics ranged from linen and cotton to seersucker and lightweight wool reflecting a warmer climate in various patterns including polka dot, gingham, check, glen plaid and hounds tooth.

Working alongside Emirati style pioneer Mohammed Sultan Al Habtoor, gave a valuable local insight into our production. Mohammed lead the Creative Direction of the show. Under his artistic eye, the show blossomed into a catwalk hit, with an overwhelming array of positive reviews and social media attention.

To add to the occasion, international model Shaun Ross; also debuted on the UAE runway for the first time. Shaun brought a gritty New York dynamic and demonstrated that Dubai is evolving, attracting talented designers such as Velsvoir, European press such as MSF and world-renowned models alike.
