James Bond has gotten a new assignment for Queen and country. Daniel Craig has been covertly filming scenes at Buckingham Palace for a special video for the 2012 London Olympics at The Queen’s invitation, London’s The Sun reported.
The clip, which is directed by Academy Award-winner Danny Boyle, will apparently end with Craig’s Bond parachuting into London’s Olympic Stadium, according to the report. It will be screened as part of the July 27 opening ceremonies as part of a big year for England that includes the 50th anniversary of the Bond film franchise and the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth’s reign.
“They wanted the most iconic British film character inside the building most associated with London and with the monarch — and they got it,” a source told the Sun. Everything else about the shoot — code-named “The Arrival” — is shrouded in secrecy with personal cameras and cell phones banned on the set inside Buckingham Palace. The Queen herself would not comment on the rumors that Bond was back on Her Majesty’s Secret Service.
Omega James Bond 50th Anniversary Watch
To celebrate 50 years of James Bond, Omega has announced a new special edition timepiece – the Omega James Bond 007 Seamaster 50th Anniversary. James Bond has worn a Seamaster in every 007 film since GoldeEye.
The 007 Seamaster will come in two sizes, 41 mm and 36.25 mm. The cases are in stainless steel and feature ceramic bezel rings with diving scales in matter chromium nitride with the number “50” in red to symbolize the anniversary.
Limited to 14,014 pieces worldwide. Each version comes on a classic brushed and polished Omega-patented screw-and-pin stainless steel bracelet.
The case back is screwed-in and stamped with the signature Bond gun-barrel design. There is a “bullet” decoration fixed on the rotor that can be viewed through a central sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating inside. The watch also has a unidirectional rotating bezel. A helium escape valve allows helium atoms to escape during decompression, necessary for professional divers operating in diving bells. Water-resistant up to 300 meters.
