I was attending the Barcelona Boat show in the One Ocean Harbour and I happened to run into Theo Jones and Shane Chadwick. Their day jobs are working on luxury yachts worth millions. So with a wealth of experience when it comes to crossing the ocean with super yachts, Theo and Shane have decided to take on a new challenge, crossing the Atlantic in a rowing boat.
At the beginning of December 2015 Team Hesco will be setting out from the Canary Islands to cover approximately 3000 nautical miles across the Atlantic Ocean on an expedition that is considered one of the toughest endurance races in the world.
Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge
Competing in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge 2015, a race of 30 boats consisting of teams from around the globe, the team will row for approximately 60 days. They will row day and night, non-stop and unassisted, two hours on and then two hours off, until they finally reach their destination.
In this interview Jones and Chadwick which I now label as the gladiators on the water, they explain in detail the unknown challenges that awaits on this insane voyage. What equipment will they bring to cross the Atlantic Ocean, and more so what clothing will they be rowing in. You can also download an app called the yellow brick that they will be uploading on a daily bases through out this adventure so that you and I can watch how they are performing.
Team Hesco hope to raise £100,000 for Think Fragile and The Not Forgotten Association. For more information or to donate visit www.teamhesco.com
