T-Shirts are a menswear staple and there is a lot of choice out there and it’s increasing. With the internet making it easier for new brands to emerge, independent labels are taking a slice out of a market which was once dominated by high-street giants and established fashion houses. But like TV channels, an increase in choice doesn’t always mean an increase in quality.
At Men Style Fashion we like to get the jump on new labels that represent the best of the independent scene; those brands who produce strong graphic designs on quality shirts. One such brand, is Time & Place Clothing.
Time & Place Clothing launched in May 2013 fresh off the press with part one of their Spring/Summer collection featuring two exclusive designs printed on vintage washed organic cotton. The signature design of the collection is the Underground London Print.
Time & Place gave us a sneak peak at some of their artwork for part two of the SS13 collection, which is being released at the end of July 2013. All the designs are based on original black and white photographs produced in house, and embellished with graphic elements which help capture the essence of a time and place. You aren’t going to see these designs anywhere else, which is what independent labels should be about: many seem to recycle designs made famous by other more established brands
How to Wear the Collection
The bold monochromatic designs mean these shirts are versatile and a summer suitcase staple which can be paired with a number of different looks. These are statement t-shirts so try to stay away from busy patterns and prints on your trousers or shorts. For a classic casual summer look, pair with light denim wash jeans rolled up at the ankle with some brightly coloured espadrilles. You could also try an open short-sleeved shirt with a simple pattern and shorts.
