Trends – Men Style Fashion We Show You How Fri, 18 May 2018 08:02:41 +0000 en-GB hourly 1 Vape Starter Kit – The Healthy and Affordable Option Thu, 29 Mar 2018 18:55:06 +0000 As sports clubs rely more and more on sponsorship to stay afloat, E-C brands have slowly begun to introduce funding into games as a way of building their brands. Since 2015, Wolverhampton Wanderers were one of the first sports clubs to sign a sponsorship deal with an E-C company, introducing personalised SKYCIG’s to their club-shop and allowing them to use them at selected areas around the stadium, while Derby County signed a sponsorship agreement with E-Lites and had even offered samples to fans at their Pride Park ground.

On top of this, in 2015 there was controversy as Rugby League club Warrington Wolves lifted the ecig ban at their Halliwell Jones stadium but only after striking a lucrative sponsorship deal with Truvape Electronic Cigarettes.

Commenting on the deal and reversal of the ban, Alex Wilson, Wolves commercial manager said in an interview with Warrington Worldwide:

“As a percentage of our fans are already smokers, we are pleased to be able to encourage them to consider switching to alternatives by allowing vaping in certain areas of the stadium, as well as providing a branded vapouriser that can be purchased on site.We initially introduced the vaping ban as a ‘just in case’ measure, but are now happy to reverse this as more news on the industry comes to light.”

Vaper Starter Kits – The Healthy Option

As the health implications around the use of ecigs remain a grey area, and both sides battle for clearer regulations on use, for now the decision remains in the hands of sports clubs to use their discretion on the use of ecig. In 2018, There are so many reasons to leave cigarettes behind and replace them with ecig starter kits. Smoking is always going to be a personal choice and no matter how hard organisations try to highlight the implications of smoking. More so than ever gyms, and sporting organisations are being very creative in using the marketing power ecig has in 2018.

For example, the health benefits are enormous: instantly cut out hundreds of toxins and the tobacco associated with smoking cigarettes and pick up one of our starter kits instead.

So if you are hardcore in giving up smoking, an choose the ecig lifestyle. Then it’s important to buy into brands that you can trust. So not to run out of puff, take the time to invest in some vaping mods.

Tips On Creating A 21st Century Bachelor Pad Mon, 04 Dec 2017 12:37:23 +0000 When it comes to interior design, many modern males still feel fairly unconfident about how to make their homes somewhere both functional and stylish. So rather than wasting your money on any chintzy home stylings, here’s a look at how you can upgrade your living space in a contemporary and stress-free manner.

Keep It Minimal

All guys will be glad to know that minimalism is still hugely fashionable in 2017. This means that you don’t have to worry about any fussy and flowery colour schemes, as neutral colour tones like grey and white are a great way to streamline your home and keep things smart.

But in order to stop this look from feeling too much like an office, it’s a good idea to use contrast. There’s nothing like getting a big pop art wall print to create a big impression. And as the Dude in The Big Lebowski says, a decent rug can really tie a room together!

Brutalist Styles

The brutalist look is a great alternative to minimalist chic. You’ll have seen this in most coffee shops and city centre bars in the UK, as it uses everything from filament light bulbs, to distressed wood, and even bare brick walls to get that contemporary urban look.

What’s great about this brutalist style is that it means you don’t have to cover up any imperfections in your home. So that whether you’ve got a platform top base or a sprung edge bed from Bedstar, you don’t have to cover it up in lots of soft furnishings to get that very trendy brutalist style. Instead this look is about being bold and edgy – perfect for the 21st century male.

Classic Mid Century Modern Aesthetics

Anybody who’s seen the hit TV show, Mad Men, will know exactly what the mid-century modern look is all about. With iconic furniture like bean-shaped coffee tables and egg chairs, it might seem perilously close to turning your home into an Austin Powers shrine, but it’s a great way to transform your interiors.

Colour is especially important in the mid-century modern look with unusual hues like flamingo pink, gold yellow, and olive green being fun ways to brighten up your home decor.

And whilst some mid century modern furniture is selling at record prices, it’s always a good idea to hunt around charity shops and online auction sites to see if you can pick yourself up a bargain.

A Short History Of The Leather Jacket, From Wars To Catwalks Wed, 22 Nov 2017 00:37:27 +0000 We do not exaggerate when we claim that every man (but also every woman) has had at least one leather jacket in his wardrobe.

An item that is now considered as a classic garment, a must, something as necessary and basic as a t-shirt or a pair of jeans, the leather jacket is also a garment that is always stylish and fashionable, and never goes out of fashion. You just need to have a look at the catwalks all over the world and at the collections of the main fashion designers to understand that this piece of item of clothing is held as a must-have and as an object that can inspire both the designers that create it and the people who wear it. Lambskin, buckskin and sheepskin leather hides are the main types of leather used for the creation of jackets.

Nowadays the leather jacket is a fashion item that each man wants to have in his wardrobe to show it off when he wants to feel a bit rebel or simply to stand out as a strong and decided person, but this special jacket was born many years ago for completely different reasons.

War Clothing

The leather jacket, indeed, fist appeared during the First World War as a garment used by German fighter pilots. Used as outerwear layers of uniforms, leather jackets had a protective role. They were called bomber jackets and were very appreciated especially for their insulating capacity and warmth. Leather jackets were also used during the Russian Civil War, so we can certainly claim that their first field of application was the military sector.

Soon this garment began to become more popular also outside the military sector, in particular in the 1920s, when the first leather jacket for Harley Davidson was designed by Irving Shott. Unlike the military jacket, this model (named “Perfecto” after a cigar) had a zipper instead of buttons and was a shortened version of it. However, the leather jacket did not dismiss its military role and appeared again during World War II, worn also by members of the USA Army. The legendary A-2 model is still seen as an icon, and some clothing companies still reproduce these jackets, after so many year.

A boost to leather jackets as fashionable garments was certainly given by Hollywood and the many movies that featured stars and unforgettable characters wearing this item of clothing. Movies dating back to the 1940s and 1950s, like For Whom the Bell Tolls, The Wild One and Rebel without a Cause, just to make few examples, contributed to the launch of the leather jacket as an item used by beautiful and charming boys (just like Gary Cooper, Marlon Brando, James Dean and other movie stars), most of them rebel and unconventional. This is how many boys began to conceive this garment as something that could enhance a person’s charm (and maybe attract girls!), as well as a sort of symbol for rebellion.

Marlon Brando

In the following decades the leather jacket affected also other sectors, in particular fashion and music. The Beatles first (in the 1960s), the Ramones, Sex Pistols and The Clash then (form the 1970s on) contributed to associate the leather jacket to rock and punk music. As far as the world of fashion is concerned, we cannot forget the contribution given by designers such as Vivienne Westwood and Yves Saint Laurent. The girlfriend of Malcolm Mclaren (manager of Sex Pistols), Vivienne Westwood transformed the leather jacket into a trendy garment, while Yves Saint Laurent was the first designer to insert leather in his collections not only for jackets, but also for trousers, skirts and so on.  Leather became a fashion material and was then used in the collections of many other designers.

Elvis Presley

Modern Days

Nowadays the leather jacket is seen as a fashionable and classic garment, and designers evidently like to reinvent it and give it different shapes. Although the basic model is still appreciated, the leather jacket is now something that can vary a lot depending on designers’ creativity, on contemporary trends and on personal taste. Leather jackets are realized in different colours (not only black or brown!), and shapes, for both men and women, and can be either elegant or casual.

The Top 3 Trending Colours For This Winter Tue, 05 Jan 2016 08:50:56 +0000 Header-Image

Winter yes please. I must confess that this is my favourite season. It is the best pretext for me to dust off my winter wardrobe and to wear those clothes that they have been waiting for me to be worn, my coats, sweaters, scarves, gloves, hats, jackets and cardigans. Through all collections fall-winter 2015-16 we can see some of rising trends like the use of fur by J.W. Anderson, or the androgynous proposal of Gucci and Loewe, the use oversized clothing in Dries Van Noten and Lanvin, velvet materials by McQueen and the use of animal prints like the collections of Hedi Slimane for Saint Lauren and Burberry. These were some of the many trends for this coming winter, but in this article I will focus on the colour trends, I am picking three exceptional options to wear for this coming winter season.

This colour has appeared in all of the big fashion shows, burgundy is the clear front runner for colour of the season. Winter calls for warm, comforting tones such as the colour of redwine, the marsala (in fact, was the color of 2015 according to Pantone, the color company.). Also I have noticed purple shades showcased by Lanvin, Dior Homme, Valentino, Berluti and Alexander McQueen.

Sand is a brilliant colour, which resembles the colour of desert sand. It may also be regarded as a deep tone of beige. When you think of a Versace man, you may imagine a flamboyant peacock not afraid to outshine the rest. The collection for Fall/Winter 2015-2016 shows all the best this fashion house has to offer. The sets mixes comfy and a little over-sized clothes with those tailored closely to the body with a colour palette reduced, where the sand color was protagonist.

Few seasons ago the camel colour started to be on the radar of the fashionistas. For sure if you are an early-adopter you already might have purchased your camel coat for the current winter. To keep things simple and easy, today’s colour story stars camel, which like navy can serve as a “new neutral” in your wardrobe. With this colour you can build up your style with just about any other colours. Camel tones will look great with just about anything, from black to white, navy blue, red, and grey.

Winter Coats – Top 5 To Invest In Fri, 01 Jan 2016 05:23:44 +0000 Many people in the fashion world hold the opinion that winter is a time of year that separates the sartorial skilled from the fledgling fashion follower. The main reason for this is layering; this creates more opportunities for fashion faux pas, but also allows the adept to unitise more accessories to keep warm. With the brisk weather now upon us, it’s time to really think about the outerwear we choose, and how to coordinate your wardrobe to match.

With this in mind, here’s a list of the 5 Jackets every man needs in his wardrobe.

Pea Coat

Let’s start with a classic, and as all stylish men will agree, looking good no matter what trend or season we’re in is easier with a garment so timeless. Made popular by European Naval personnel in the 1700’s, its heavy wool blend (wool still insulates when wet, unlike many modern fabrics), classic lapels and double-breasted front will suit any body shape.

The beauty of the pea coat is its ability to be teamed with almost anything you can throw at it, and although this article is about winter, it’s perfectly fine to wear one into the early days of spring. Go casual with a t-shirt, jeans and some well-chosen trainers, or wear as a smart look with an oxford shirt and pair of classic brogues; trial for different occasions and see what works best. A small investment and the ubiquitous pea coat will last you many years, keep you looking good and, just as important, nice and warm.

Denim Terminology – Green Cast & Smart Jeans Thu, 24 Sep 2015 14:10:10 +0000 A tweet caught my eye today, it was asking me to talk about denim today. Now we have written many denim articles on our magazine. Honestly this fabric is an iconic material that has stood the test of time, we really don’t have to talk about it anymore. However how can brands market this commonly known fabric that will lure us into spending our hard earn cash.

Denim is a material that is sold in many sizes, styles, brands and colours. Denim labels are truly a personal purchase and very much like a pair of shoes. Each brand will suit different sub cultures and body shapes. Each denim sold just depends on what you’re programmed into buying to. So what is trending in our high street stores right now. Why should you buy more denim anyway? What on earth does a smart jean mean let alone green cast?

Smart Jeans

I’m loving the names right now regarding the way they’re marketing denim at the moment. Smart Jeans caught my eye and I was not clear what that really meant. OMG, an intellectual jean for men. Project Jacquard is a new system for weaving technology into fabric, transforming clothes into interactive surfaces. Google has teamed up with Levis to create unique innovative clothing items that can alert wearers of weight gain and interact with smartphones nearby.  This makes perfect sense on a google optimization front for any high street denim brands.

No we have high street brands already hijacking the words “Smart Jean” while not even selling a smart jean. They try to already capture market share away from a technology that has not even been launched. I guess smart jeans was not something that could be trade marked. You see this business is fiercely competitive and with a 56 billion dollar yearly market in denim jeans you can clearly see why.

Green Cast

I also was intrigued by the phrase green cast dyes. Now it’s a colour that can look awful and very hard to wear without looking like a gardener. Depending on the method of dying it will result in different shades or casts: yellow, black, brown, red or green cast. You usually don´t see what cast it is on pre-washed denim as the effect gets more apparent when the denim has been worn and washed. The green cast fabric, dyed with green sulfur gives a deeper green/blue-ish fade. The more the fabric has been dipped in the indigo, the more apparent deep in the fade, after wearing and washing. I guess the point I am making and the denim brands are wanting you to buy into is simple. Over time your denim will end up turning into a colour that you didn’t set out to buy. Smart because if you end up not liking it then you will opt to buy another green cast option.

More so now looking for a particular style can be very overwhelming. The more they commercially change the denim name the more you’re going to be confused. Don’t worry about it. You guys shop mostly on-line anyway. And most on-line stores have simple denim guides to find your favourite fit in a variety of washes. Worse case scenario you end up buying the smart jeans which in the long run was not so mart after all.

Cuffed Shorts For Men – The Hottest Trend This Summer Mon, 06 Jul 2015 08:24:37 +0000 Cuffed shorts for men

Some fashion trends never go out of style, and cuffed or turn-up shorts are the perfect example. Something about them that says summer. The questions that needs to be asked while trying to find shorts for you are, how can I maximise the way I look when wearing cuffed shorts? Different labels look good on different men. So work out which shop works for you. Then, It all comes down to the prints you choose. By keeping all your clothes within a fairly consistent color theme, especially a dark one, will create an illusion of height.

Short Versus Tall

If your shorter then you want people’s eyes to focus more on your face. So when you do wear different colours or different shades of the same colour, try to weight the darker colors toward the bottom half of your body. That way people’s attention starts down near your feet and travels upward. Dark shorts with a lighter top create a lengthening effect. On the contrast, a darker top with lighter cuffed shorts, make you look less tall.

Your Shorts Type

  1. Classic shorts hit 3-5 inches above the knee. They can be dressed up or down. Both loose and tight-fitting cuffed shorts look good. Be careful when choosing, it’s simple if you think it does not look good then opt for another style. If not just have the cuff not to far from your knee.
  2. Most menswear is deliberately cut loose to accommodate as many body types as possible. Clothing marked small isn’t made for one type of small; it’s often made to try to accommodate shorter men.
  3. If you are tall then go for the skinny type cuffed shorts.

Team Your Shorts With

  1. Cuffed shorts can be teamed with any top. Weather is be a T-shirt, sweater or shirt it states summer cool. I also find loose cardigans look very edgy indeed. The summer blazer looks perfect with cuffed shorts it just give an overall balanced look. I find with your cuffed shorts depending on the fabrics used, make sure your top is opposite. So if you cuffed shorts are plain then go for a fabric with patterns.
  2. It’s summer so opt for sandals and let your cuffed shorts do the talking.

Will Unisex Clothing Become Mainstream? Mon, 23 Mar 2015 15:53:08 +0000 Anonymous Sweat Shirt

Will Unisex Clothing Become Mainstream?

When Kristi Paras launches an e-commerce site for her West Village shop Personne of New York, product categories will include Menswear, Womenswear, Accessories and Everyone. “Everyone” meaning unisex, or pieces that can, and are worn by men and women.

At her physical store, Paras stocks the Los Angeles based line 69 which includes trousers and dresses designed to appeal to both sexes. (Guys might like to call those dresses tunics.) She also carries New Zealand-based brand Kowtow, which includes men’s and women’s pieces made out of 100 percent organic fair trade cotton, as well as a few looks that are gender neutral. (Including the windowpane-check Anonymous sweatshirt.

Most of these pieces are cut so far away from the body that one really can’t discern whether or not they were designed for specific anatomy. “It’s a part of the whole movement towards easier dressing,” Paras says. “An awful lot of stuff in our store comes in one size.”

Although Paras is quick to declare that unisex clothes are “not a trend,” one can’t ignore that gender roles are being questioned more than ever in fashion. Particularly via the runway, where Rick Owens, Thom Browne and more recently, J.W. Anderson, regularly put men in skirts. And there are others. British designer Richard Nicoll created a capsule collection of unisex pieces, called S/he, in collaboration with the artist Linder Sterling.

And when Rad Hourani began showing couture, he designed the collection as unisex, which has become his signature. The Canadian-born, Paris-based designer spent a full year studying male and female anatomy before launching his unisex ready-to-wear line in 2007. “Who decided that a man should dress in one way and a woman in another? Or that different ages should dress differently? Who imposed these codes?” Hourani says. “It doesn’t make sense to me to limit things. I’m not trying to dress a man like a woman or the opposite. I’m creating a new way of dress that makes people look modern without any limits.”

Miuccia Prada, too, is thinking about genderless fashion. “More and more, it feels instinctively right to translate the same idea for both genders,” she told at the Prada menswear show this past July.

And it’s not just for consumers of ready-to-wear. Unisex ideas are permeating far beyond the rarefied end of things. In contemporary fashion, there’s Rick Owens’s Dark Shadows, as well as the aforementioned Kowtow and 69. And at the mass level, American Apparel has made unisex sexy, dressing a guy and girl in the same plaid shirt. (Guess whose is unbuttoned and showing more than a little cleavage in the ad?)

While it’s virtually impossible to measure the market for unisex clothes, there’s also no denying that a market exists. Women, however, seem to make up most of that market. “Women are more inclined to step into that gender-neutral role,” says Johnny Pizzolato, owner of International Playground, a chainlet of New York stores that specializes in brands from abroad that are difficult to track down in the States. “They’re more likely to head over to the men’s section. Men don’t like to deviate.” (He carries Kowtow as well as Copenhagen-based Soulland, a menswear line that many females buy.)

Although there are exceptions. Paras says she has male customers who wear 69’s “Night Shirt” dress, which is like an elongated button down. “Mainly girls would wear it, but I do think guys are more comfortable wearing drapey stuff.” Eugene Rabkin, editor of StyleZeitgeist, a magazine and an online forum that deal heavily in menswear, agrees. “Undoubtedly, men, mostly in the culturally forward urban centres, now pay more attention to how they dress, and the rules on what is masculine are relaxing a bit,” he says. “You can particularly see this in elongating the tops to the level of mini-dresses. We can thank Rick Owens for that. He was also able to get some men into skirts for a minute.”

But can we call unisex fashion a movement? Or even a moment? Hourani’s work in particular is certainly thought-provoking, and has brought more attention to the idea of what unisex means, and what it could mean. Yet for most consumers of fashion, particularly men, it’s still a challenging category. “I don’t think it will become any more prevalent than it has been for two reasons,” says Rabkin. “First, the cultural gender norms are very firmly ingrained in our society, despite the wishful thinking of the politically correct set. Most women want to be feminine and most men want to be masculine. Second, it’s hard to get away from human anatomy.

Of course, there will always be a subset of people, let’s call them the weird and the wonderful, who will challenge and subvert gender norms, but I doubt they will make significant impact on culture at large.”

  • Ties – You can’t go too wrong here. Just think about your colour pallet. Black and white is one of the winning combinations that never fails.
  • Shirts – If you are becoming a man that seeks attention then the polka dot shirt is for you. Just think how big you want your dots to be?
  • Jackets – Dark blue and white dots are a nice way to show your boldness. Keep everything else very neutral. Get ready because the attention will be immense.
  • Evening Wear – For a night out with your friends. Match a pair of chinos or jeans with your dotted shirt. Weddings are a great platform to embrace polka dot suits. Not for all but if you are going to do it. Go for it. Another option is by matching  your top with your suit trouser dots.

One thing to think about, make sure the dots pattern is lineal/diagonal and dots small. When dots become splotches it’s a disaster.

Fashion Forward – Men Are Making Statements Thu, 06 Nov 2014 09:10:57 +0000 Men Are Making Statements With Fashion Forward Statements

It used to be that my female friends were the in-the-know fashionistas, but as of late, the men in my life have been making statements everywhere we go. Having a large group of male friends that date back to high school, I recently had an epiphany when we girls joined up with our men to pre-game before a big night out. As all of us ladies sat around and exchanged pleasantries, the men started popping up and showing off their accessories, one-upping each other’s fashion game for the night. Everything from cufflinks, bowties, pocket squares, and neon shoelaces were compared as I came to the realization that us girls need to step it up if we want to keep up with our stylish beaus. I love that we live in a time when men can joyously and shamelessly join in on the style fun. It used to be that a guy would be labeled effeminate or metro-sexual if they boasted about their skin products or wore pink. However, we live in a far more accepting time and with masculine icons like Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z writing songs that celebrate the art of dressing up in their “suit and tie,” men can rejoice in the splendor that their dates aren’t the only ones getting the compliments anymore.

Men Who Are looking To Get On Trend

My boyfriend and I recently attended a wedding together, and at formal events it’s usually me who gets all the attention and admiration in the relationship. However, his pocket square alone was at one point a topic of discussion at our dinner table, and don’t even get me started on the discussion that took place about stylish money clips at the table. Us women escaped to the bar and dance floor on many occasions, not just because we were having a great time celebrating the marriage of a friend, but also to poke fun at our masculine men as they talk about the best place to buy a messenger bag.

For men who are looking to get on trend and for the women in their lives looking to help them take the leap into the world of fashion I would suggest to visit stores like Urban Outfitters, and here are a few tips:

  1. Add color to your wardrobe. Don’t be afraid of pinks or purples. Start with accessories like socks and ties.

  1. Buy outfits not pieces. My boyfriend has a policy that he won’t buy a tie unless he has a shirt to wear it with. This way, every time he shops he has a clear idea of his full ensemble and nothing will just sit around in his closet with nothing to pair it with.

  1. Don’t be afraid to go outside the box. Buy a new accessory that’s out of your comfort zone. Maybe it’s a hat, bowtie, or tie clip. Whatever it is, own it and rock it with the confidence that comes along with being fashion savvy.

Having a stylish and versatile closet filled with clothes and accents can be budget friendly if you seek out good deals. Check out VoucherBin, where there are tons of discounts on the items listed above. Next time you have a big night out don’t let the girls have all the fun; dress yourself with confidence and choose some pieces to elevate your style factor.
