They say good things come in small packages and this certainly applies to Broadoaks Country House & Garden Suites. Located in the Lake District just 5 minutes from Windermere, Broadoaks Country House & Garden Suites is an exclusive hidden oasis. Windermere is a village that offers some of the finest dining experiences in the Lake District. Dotted throughout the village are among others jewelers, hair and beauty salons, and designer clothing boutiques. Windermere is one of the many villages available to explore within the Lake District. The Lake District is famous for its natural beauty and outdoor hiking and walking.
Broadoaks Country House & Garden Suites
What makes Broadoaks Country House & Garden Suites is it is a rarity regarding where it is located. This rural and charming hotel offers excellent accommodation with a difference. I found the staff was highly qualified, they gave me plenty of expert advice on what to do around the area. What makes Broadoaks Country House & Garden Suites unique is the eclectic fusion of traditional Lakeland and boutique cottage, topped off by panoramic views over Windermere.
That panoramic view did not disappoint, it was great to enjoy it when having breakfast or when I was in my lounge at The Retreat suite.
The road up to the country house was fun driving up to in the Ferrari GTC4Lusso T.
The road that Broadoaks is situated on is at the start of the Kirkstone Pass, the highest pass in the Lakes District.
Lake District
Main House
The main house revolves around three different rooms plus a very large elegant dining room. This two-story house high lit by huge stone-mullioned stained glass windows and dominated by an ‘arts and ‘crafts fireplace with a large wood-burning stove at its heart, has an amazing ambiance to it. It was really lovely to be able to sit in the living room, with window seats to gaze through majestic stone-mullioned windows across the garden and beyond, and have afternoon tea.
Regarding the interior design, the contemporary collection is breathing new life into an old house. There is such a warmth to this home. Broadoaks Country House & Garden Suites has a lovely buzz about it, even when it’s quiet. As I sat for afternoon tea there were so many design features here to keep me entertained with interesting facts about the house.
Here at Broadoaks Country House, my senses were activated making it something memorable. Whether I was inside the house or walking around the pristine gardens overlooking the stunning views of the Lake District, this place was an English retreat somewhat reminding me of an enchanted garden.
The Retreat
Situated on its own is an unexpected luxury space called The Retreat.
Being able to have my own parking space for the Ferrari GTC4LussoT valued at £225,000, was a stress I didn’t have to worry about.
The Retreat is all about comfort, design and chilling with either big groups or just a family of four. The interior design is an emphasis on natural materials such as wood, stone, and metal.
The trends of the season are all about warmer colours regarding retreat stays. In keeping with the desire for a warm and welcoming stay, the window glass design transformed the space allowing nature to be peering into all parts of The Retreat building. It was lovely looking out at the various windows, reminding me of this quiet oasis and the majestic Lake District.
The pursuit of comfort is an active obsession in the world of contemporary design. The key to all of the furniture designs throughout The Retreat was a contrast in materials. In the lounge area, this served to give it a very snug and comfortable feel. It was a great area for me to relax in.
Modernist influence in a secluded spot on the edge of the forest stands a striking building called The Retreat. Overall the attention to detail throughout The Retreat was excellent.
Two Bedrooms
The Retreat came with two bedrooms with both rooms boasting a very pure design language with a subtle all-encompassing British décor to it. The four-pillar post beds were well suited to The Retreat, kindly reminding me that I was on British soil. The beds in the bedrooms came with very cosy mattresses and plenty of pillows.
This comfort combined with the natural lighting made it lovely to snuggle in my bed and sleep. My morning wake-up call was listing to the therapeutic sounds of birds singing.
Two Jacuzzis
The Retreat comes with two opulent Jacuzzis, and I could not get enough of this. Having the two Jacuzzi option was an excellent idea. I had a choice of being able to soak in an indoor or an outdoor Jacuzzi.
I like the option of an outdoor Jacuzzi it was like icing on the cake. The size of this one is perfect for large groups of up to nine people. I liked how there were towels available next to the Jacuzzi. The outdoor sitting space next to the Jacuzzi was great to relax on and to hear and smell the Lake District.
Two Large Bathrooms
Swap opulence for simplicity, these very modern oversized showers were cosy and I loved the very water pressure to match the rain shower. The amenities in the bathrooms were endless and the large fluffy towels were a nice added touch.
Food
The view at the dining area is amazing, being able to peer out at nature over the hills is just stunning. The restaurant atmosphere is nice and the staff is attentive, warm, and welcoming. The selection of food was fresh with local produce available on hand. The breakfast selection is wonderful and healthy and I have had the best croissants I have ever tasted in Britain, they were very fresh and warm.
Conclusion
Oakmead is situated in a secluded environment in one of the most stunning areas of Britain, the Lake District. I had a very exhausting week and being here restored my mind, my body, and my soul. The staff are so nice and go out of their way to make sure all the guests here are well looked after. Both The Retreat and the main house are very unique and make it a special experience with regards to a holiday stay. All the guests I spoke to, everyone loved being here.
The Lake District is all about walking, hiking, and soaking up nature. There are very few places I would return to, but here at Broadoaks Country House, I would return in a heartbeat.
This is an opulent lifestyle place to visit in the United Kingdom.
