Tuscany is a land rich in history and culture. It is one of the world’s most ancient and famous lands for cultivating vineyards. Wine-making is part of the Tuscan people DNA. In this region Italians live well: life is beautiful, the air is healthy, time goes by. One of the most famous and stunning cities to visit in Siena. Famous for its historical horse race the Palio di Siena, which also featured in the Bond movie Quantum of Solace. It is held twice each year, on 2 July and 16 August at Piazza del Campo in Siena, Italy. Ten horses and riders, bareback and dressed in the appropriate colours, represent ten of the seventeen contrade, or city wards.
Palazzo Ravizza
Palazzo Ravizza is within the city wall of Siena, but it’s close to the edge of the walls, it offers amazing Tuscan views. As we entered we were welcomed as a family member or as a close relative.
Pallazo Ravizza is an old historic palazzo with amazing views and local history to experience. Inside the Palazzo there is a wonderful drawing room where my children loved playing the piano.
Design flourishes such as furniture pieces from antique to the modern make the palazzo ambience very memorable.
Car Park & Gardens
Palazzo Ravizza car park entrance is a message of pure Italian lush gardening. The park is secured and offers access to the hotel via a series of terraced gardens. The gardens itself are wonderful for views and drinking and eating.
At the top level of the garden is where breakfast is served, and it is the dolce vita way to start my wonderful stay here in Siena.
Breakfast
Breakfast is of a high standard, well presented and the variety of food available is above average compared to other Italian hotels. Try the salamis as they are super yummy. There is a continental buffet breakfast on offer until 11:00 in the morning. The gardens are used in the afternoon and evening for cocktails drinks or wine. There is a good selection of wine on offer or there is a cork charge of 10 euros if you want to bring your own wine. This includes olives and crisps and I thought was a good deal.
Rooms With A View
The hotel is decorated with amazing rooms that maintained the style and the classic ambience of a historic dwelling. Throughout the hotel the rooms are stunning but for me, the rooms with a view are what I loved. The rooms all come with air conditioning and during my stay, it was needed as it was 39 degrees outside.
It was so wonderful to look out at the view and sip some wine in the coolness of my room. This is the Italian dream, especially if that dream means acute style-acumen and normcore-chic.
The rooms are modern, very clean and full of character. There are many reminders here of once was a wonderful palazzo, and I highly recommend staying here for that alone. The whole structure has been skillfully restored. It’s a modern space inside a historic palazzo, with exquisite interiors that mix a refined colour palette with mid-century décor and custom flourishes such as bespoke lighting. Deliberately redecorated in a distinctive modern style, they display resolutely bold choices focused on harmonious colour schemes and furniture.
Each room offers different styles. Bright floral bedspreads and accent textiles look chic, as do the Rothko-esque two-tone wallpaper and drapes. Nice to have a kettle and a tea option this is not common in Italy.
Bathroom
The bathroom is modern, large and very cozy. The olive oil bespoke natural bath products, give the rooms a luxury feel.
Conclusion
The access to the city center is great, the main sights are a maximum 10 minutes walk away, so you can opt for a rest bite in the heat of the day. There are so many historical places to see here in Siena so give yourself a good two days to really take in this city.
The hotel has an amazing atmosphere and a very relaxed attentive staff were always on hand.
