I’ve been to Barcelona for many years, it is a city I adore because it has so much to offer. There are so many hotels competing against each other within this fabulous city, however, there is one hotel that I highly recommend to visit and it is the W Barcelona. From a huge distance, you can’t miss it, as it has a striking sail-like structure next to Barceloneta Beach, offering breathtaking design and fantastic views over Barcelona. W Hotels & Resorts are a luxury hotel chain owned by Starwood, that is generally marketed towards a younger crowd. They have their own signature style such as all W Hotels attempt to include the letter W wherever possible, for example, the swimming pool is known as “Wet”, the concierge is known as “Whatever Whenever”, the laundry bag is known as “Wash” and so on. I like this approach as it’s a very young and refreshing take on marketing a luxury hotel.
The W Barcelona is located away from the centre of Barcelona but that has its advantages because it is located right on the beach which gives you breathtaking views of both the beach and the city. The views are that good that you really don’t want to leave the area. The W Barcelona Hotel has plenty of in house restaurants not making you want to leave. There is the Bravo24 restaurant where Michelin starred chef Carles Abellán cooks and there is also the Wave restaurant which MenStyleFashion reviewed back in October 2015.
Eclispe Lounge Bar
Situated on the Twenty-six floor above Barcelona, Eclipse is a bar with mind-blowing views. It has been a long time since I have been to a nightclub. Let me tell you a secret I was a DJ for many years in my youth so it was great enjoying the experience. The Eclipse Lounge Bar is for those that want something of class and a place to showcase their latest style. The staff are professional and very strict on how many people can enter the bar, which I like as it makes you feel more exclusive. They are very on the ball regarding your drinks, so there are no chances of empty cocktail drinks lying around. The staff are quick to serve you and make sure that everything is in pristine order.
The Eclipse Bar prides itself of having a great time without the usual atmosphere of people being out of control. If you’re hungry the Sushi looks very classy indeed. Well as for the cocktails, the menu offers the right balance for a great night out. The music was very commercial but hey, enough for me to get my dancing shoes on. You can reserve a VIP table or put your name on the list. Yes, this is a bar where you just can’t rock up to, therefore for me, this is a bar that you can bring business clients in for a good night out. To be able to let your hair hang down in a classy way. Guys this is a great place to tweet and Instagram your style all night long.
The name says it all, the moment we walked we knew it was going to be a fabulous night. Floor to ceiling windows bring the Mediterranean scene inside. The beach, bustling city, and sea below are all within view from sunrise to the colourful sunset. We had full sea and city views which were a perfect way to appreciate Barcelona. The W signature bed was comfortable and situated perfectly to appreciate this view night and day, no way I would close those curtains. The mood lighting system is clever as you can set the scene to your way of feeling.
The 40 m2 room was the perfect size to just sit and watch people swim, surf and walk the boulevard. I work a lot in hotel rooms, so the oversize desk was great to work from, and every now and then I was just looking up at my view. The high-speed internet is always crucial to our on-line business and the chaise lounge by the window was bliss to sit and enjoy my Cava let alone some wine. The shower was huge and I am a big fan of rainfall showers and it was nice to be reminded of the Bliss Spa products which only entices you to pop down and get a treatment sometimes. MenStyleFashion reviewed the Bliss Spa back in October.
This room was the perfect place to really chill and appreciate Barcelona’s landscape. It is also a room in where you could host your business clients and why would you not, with a view like this. I had a very busy week and this was a great way to end my stay in Spain.
The breakfast selection was amazing very international indeed and the presentation was so enticing. I am a huge fan of coffee and they made great coffee, ask for a cafe latte on your next stay. The food is plentiful, fresh and with plenty of healthy selections. The setting, on the first floor with sea views, makes for a perfect way to start your day in Barcelona.
Gym With A View
I have reviewed a lot of hotels but this has to be the biggest gym I have seen yet. This is a proper gym with lots of equipment to choose by. The location is amazing and the view just completes that workout. There is a small sauna in both the ladies and the men’s rooms which I think was great. Considering I forgot to bring my swimwear. For £20 you can have access to the Bliss Spa facilities but I would recommend you try the Bliss Triple Oxygen Treatment.
