I fly on average once a year to Australia and it is such a long flight. I choose to always have my transit stop here in pristine clean Singapore. If you have never been to Asia before I recommend you start with Singapore. This is a beautiful, clean and well-cultured city, unique in this part of the world. The people are very honest, friendly and very proud of their home Singapore.
I would recommend a three-day stopover to get over some of the jet lags when coming from Europe. From Changi airport it is only a short 20 minute taxi ride to the city center of Singapore, a city full of shopping, food and tourist entertainment for both family and friends.
Park Hotel Clarke Quay
For some tourist South East Asia’s beaches are the main draw card, but for tourists coming to Singapore, the picturesque city attractions are why we chose to stay at the Park Hotel Clarke Quay. Park Hotel Clarke Quay is a 5-minute drive from the Central Business District and is located right on the Singapore river. The hotel offers an outdoor swimming pool, fitness centre and rooms with a Clarke Quay view. I was jet-lagged so at 11 pm at night I chose to walk to Clarke Quay riverside which is lovely at night, and I had access to cocktail bars and great food restaurants. Singapore is a very safe city so walking alone is not an issue.
The reception is large, warm and welcoming with plenty of staff to assist me after 20 hours of traveling from Europe. The decor is a modern one with an Asia ambiance.
Breakfast offers an option eating inside or outside. The food on offer is a simple mix of fresh fruits and Asian cuisines. I opted for the dumplings, freshly made egg station and local fruit.
Crystal Club Lounge
I had access to the club lounge in where I could also have breakfast. The views of the city is a lovely way to wake up. Crystal Club rooms offer an excellent level of service, comfort, and convenience for travelers. It is located on the top level of the hotel, the Crystal Club Lounge offers breathtaking vistas of the iconic Singapore River or the dazzling cityscape. At 5:30 pm for two hours, there are alcoholic drinks on offer with fresh food, this was a lovely way to sit and soak up Singapore.
Check-in time is after 2 pm and check-out is at 12 noon. If I required an early check-in or a late check-out, the hotel will accommodate this based on the availability of rooms. With jet-lag this was fabulous. The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle bus service to Clarke Quay MRT Station, Orchard Road, Suntec City and other major landmarks.
Hotel swimming pools are always important and a brilliant way to stretch my body after a long haul flight.
The inviting 25-meter outdoor swimming pool is located on the same floor as the gymnasium and makes for the perfect place to chill. I could bask in the shade with an inviting fan to keep me cool and a Singapore Sling cocktail, one of my favorite drinks.
The ultimate rooms to recharge my senses, the 24 sqm Deluxe Rooms located on the higher floors, were clean and welcoming. The Deluxe Room is characterised by elevated ceilings and full length bay windows, transforming my living space into an atmospheric abode. As the sun sets, I enjoyed the exhilarating views of Clarke Quay and Robertson Quay as the city came alive.
The bed was comfortable and the endless pillows allowed me to chill and work during the night. Access to tea was welcoming when I could not sleep. As I was with my family there was a joining door that allowed my children to sleep or play throughout our stay.
My daughters had a nice bath to soak in and play during our stay. I had a rain shower to keep myself relaxed. The Appelles Apothecary & Lab are one of my favourite products to use in Singapore, their facial and body creams are lovely on the body.
Park Hotel Clarke Quay Singapore is a lovely hotel for a transit stay here in Singapore. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the hotel is a nice location to access the river. Singapore at night is a lovely city to stroll to take in this modern Asian culture. Thanks for a lovely stay.
