Menswear style tips and trends from Russell Rose, co-editor of the new edition of Fashion Fabulous London comments “Menswear in London has never been better. London has become an incredible hotbed for emerging creative menswear designers. More new men’s shops and departments are opening than ever and twice a year, the capital plays host to the truly inspiring London Collections: Men. London is a city of ideas, a city with a tradition for breaking the rules of fashion and a city whose designers are headhunted globally. London is also the pre-eminent city in the world for fashion heritage, producing clothes that are amongst the finest one can buy.
For men’s bespoke suits there are none better than those made by the talented tailors in Savile Row. Navy suits one button, single breasted with peak lapels are set to be a big hit this summer with men’s shoes, shirts and accessories becoming more adventurous. Right at the edge, London has wonderful Japanese designer edits of sculptural monochromatics at top end boutique stores such as Hostem and Layers as well great designs at Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen. An upbeat colour palette of bold oranges, yellows, purples and turquoise are going to be great fun to wear this summer. Super short shirts paired with a great graphic T-shirt or paired with a blazer is a hot new look if of course the sunny weather holds out. Tobacco browns mixed with neutrals inspiring offer a more conservative approach, whilst cool confident stripes or small patterns on jackets and shirts are set to be popular with more extrovert fashionistas in the coming months.
