Museum Willet-Holtthuysen
We then discovered Museum Willet-Holtthuysen another large canal-side house. Museum Willet-Holthuysen is a museum in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on the Herengracht canal. It is the only fully furnished canalside patrician house in Amsterdam that is open to the public.
In 1861, Abraham Willet married Louisa Holthuysen. They had known each other for years, but her father was not keen on a son-in-law with no social standing, who spent money like water and who occasionally led a bohemian lifestyle in Paris. The canal house is spectacular opulence on every level.
