Just when you thought that winter would never end, along comes one of those days which puts a smile on your face. Sunshine, blue sky, birds in the trees and green stuff a sprouting.  That day when you first notice that Spring is on its way is like a lunchtime glass of bubbly, you can’t help but be elated.  It’s not going to be nearly warm enough to break out the Hawaiian shirts and baggy shorts, but the arrival of this wonderful season, with its promise of summer just around the corner, does deserve some celebratory acknowledgement from your wardrobe.  So, ditch the winter drab and consider these joyous accessories.

Crossbody Bag

Appearing on any number of catwalks last year, the cross-body bag is very much on trend.  Yes, it is a deliberate style choice but there’s no need to be afraid of that because it is also incredibly practical.  Slung directly across the chest, from shoulder to hip, it’s comfortable, it’s secure and it’s hands free.  Don’t choose something so heavy that it makes you look like you’re enduring some form of arcane punishment.  Keep it light, this is not a weekend bag, it’s for your phone, billfold and not too much besides.  Wear a t-shirt or light jumper underneath.

Wrist Watch

So, you think that because you have a phone you don’t need a wrist watch.  Well, that’s true, up to a point but if you think that the wrist watch is obsolete twentieth century fashion, then think again.  First up, a wrist watch is the most convenient way to tell the time, you don’t have to wrestle your phone out of your jeans front pocket, and you don’t have to get distracted by a bunch of social media fluff, you just look at your wrist.  Most importantly though, a sleek leather watch is a possession which you will grow to love and it’s a mark of style which will be admired by others.

Ray-Ban Aviators

Probably the most iconic sunglasses on the planet, Aviators endow their wearer with instant cool.  Prescription glasses wearers can benefit too, as Aviators can come with corrective lenses.  Whether you’re climbing out of the plane you just flew, or walking your dog, you can’t go wrong with these timeless shades.

Sandals and Slides

Spring days can be deliciously warm, so it makes sense to give those feet an airing by slipping them into something cool.  And here we must venture onto the fashion battlefield that is socks with sandals.  For many of us the pairing of sock and sandal is irredeemably dorky, something an embarrassing dad might have done on holiday in France in the seventies, but there is an alternative viewpoint.  Last year we saw Justin Bieber pairing blue socks with Givenchy sandals and David Beckham combining athletic socks with red Adidas pool slides.  Maybe that just confirms you in the belief that socks n sandals are the last frontier of bad taste, maybe not.
