Hairstyle Tips

Yesterday I received a late-night text message peppered with an urgent undertone from Nick Grimshaw: ‘When can you cut my HAIR! Now? Tonight? Tomorrow? I need to know!’

Well…Considering Nick was attending various London Collections: Men A/W 2014 shows as one of the recently appointed British Fashion Council ambassadors, I dropped everything to attend to his needs. Plus Nick is just too nice a man to say no to.

Nick is known for his high, modern quiff, perfectly disheveled. The cut – not too short on the back and sides, with plenty of length to play with at the top. And YES – He does like to play with his hair. It’s just part of his character. Picture this: You are on the beach and an ocean-breeze changes the direction of hair. Your hand goes in, thus rearranging its previous form. There you have it – Nick Grimshaw’s hair-style.

To Prep The Hair

To prep the hair, I use label.m Sea Salt Spray before blow-drying to add texture and weight. I then add a dry, matte paste, such as L’OREAL a.head clay, just at the roots, to secure a strong hold, making sure the style stays in place throughout the day. Any product residue left on my hands is rubbed into the back and sides to create texture and movement.

I then give Nick the opportunity to adjust and perfect and Hey Presto! Phew – a mere 15 minutes later we are off in a private BFC car to the Richard James Savile Row show.

It’s a tough day for us being sandwiched between Nick, David Gandy, Dermot O’Leary and Tinie Tempah! NOT! Well! AAA front row seats all the waaay. Nice one, Mr. Grimshaw!
