Dress As Comfortably As Possible
I’m sure you’ll know already that dressing as comfortably as possible is really important- in fact, it’s probably one of the first things you were taught at nursing school. However, with everything that’s been going on over the past few months, it may have been very easy to forget about this and you may be working in clothes or shoes that aren’t as comfy as they could be. Shoes are especially important- you’re likely to be on your feet all day and you should, therefore, make sure you have a nice, fresh pair of shoes. Look After Yourself, Family And Friends
Again, you’ll already know that protecting everyone you know and love is of pivotal importance. This may be tempting if you haven’t seen anyone in months, and there’s nothing wrong with visiting other households- providing that you know you aren’t carrying the virus. If you think there’s any risk you could pass it on to other people and increase the rate of infection again, try to avoid it. Self-isolating for that little bit longer may seem very tough, but it’ll be worth it in the long term. You can take advantage of that time and boost your nursing skills, for example. Online courses in life-saving skills are flexible, useful and certification has never been easier. Once you step out of quarantine, you’ll step up the career ladder as well.
Look After Your Mental Health
One of the most challenging parts of a nursing job at any time can be looking after your mental health, and this has been increased a lot by the coronavirus pandemic. People like you have been separated from friends and daily for extended periods of time and you’ve been worked into the ground, so you need to make sure that you’re doing everything you can to look after yourself mentally. If you think you’re starting to struggle from a mental issue like anxiety or depression, try to get help as soon as possible. There’s no point in waiting things out and letting things get worse, and there will be professionals more than willing to help you in time like these.
