Sculptor gone fashion designer Scott Ian McFarland and his latest collection will be hitting the Fashion Week runway this month in San Franscico! Scott Ian McFarland Knitwear offers unique wearable structures for the fashionably modern man or woman who doesn’t want to sacrifice comfort or craftsmanship to make a statement.
Who is Scott Ian McFarland?
As a formally trained sculptor, designer Scott Ian McFarland translated his skills to knitwear design when he took a graduate elective in contemporary knitwear at the Academy of Art San Francisco. Amazed by the technique of taking long strips of various materials and turning them into wearable objects, in addition to discovering the control and creativity that knitwear allowed him– right down to a single stitch–Scott began to create his first collection.
Scott Ian McFarland’s experience with three-dimensional shapes, texture and color leads him to experiment with knitting techniques to create unique one-of-a-kind pieces. Scott experiments with diverse fibers such as wool, cotton, and ribbon to name a few. His designs have been shown at San Francisco Design Week and the North-by-Northwest Fashion Competition, as well as New York Fashion Week 2009.
