Eat – Jora Mountain Dining
With the hike done it was time to go back to San Candido where another 3o minute hike got me to the Jora mountain hut. I had built up an appetite and was keen to explore more culinary food that South Tyrol is famous for. I have hiked and skied in many places around the world but I am amazed by the quality of food that mountain huts offer in South Tyrol. The Jora mountain hut can only be accessed by a hike, ski or a good 4-wheel drive.
Pasta On the Rocks
At Jora chef Markus Holzers, a pupil from South Tyrol’s best-known chef Norbert Niederkofler, has written a book called Pasta on the Rocks. In Pasta on the rocks, Markus Holzer takes you through 75 different recipes about how to shine in the kitchen and especially with the pasta. Of course, we had to try some pasta dishes and with the press group, we decided to go tapas style and order four different ones from the menu as a starter.

Desserts
The rain that was forecasted was now bucketing down so we had to move inside to enjoy desserts and coffees. Again the variety, quality and presentation of the desserts was amazing. Yes Jora definitely deserves the tag line “mountain dining”.

This was the end of the second day of my South Tyrol tour and again the words luxury, culinary and beautiful outdoor mountain destination were reiterated, South Tyrol has it all. Next stop on the trip was the village of Bressanone also known as Brixen. You can read more about this on my last day review of South Tyrol.
