Love them or hate them, stag dos are an essential part of any wedding. It’s the groom’s chance to have his last night of freedom before being tied to the “old ball and chain”. At least that’s what we’re led to believe.

Of course, that’s not strictly the case. Men marry because they’ve met a person they love and want to spend the rest of their life with them. But that shouldn’t stop you from getting together as a group of friends and celebrating that fact in style. Just not the night before the wedding eh lads…

With 2022 offering up a slightly more normal landscape, there are tons of great options for stag dos these days so if there’s one on the horizon for you or a member of the family or friends, here are a few ideas to get you started…

A big weekend away

Now, we’re not saying you should pack up and go to Las Vegas. But if you have the budget and time available, of course, do it!

Sin City is stag heaven, with tons of great activities from the shows, the nightclubs and of course the casinos. Online casino sites have become a real hit over the last few years, particularly with friends enjoying Casino777 blackjack, online roulette and poker together. So if you’ve been virtually enjoying it with friends in recent times, then why not celebrate a stag by doing it together? In Vegas!

Naturally, there are many casinos closer to home too, so you certainly shouldn’t rule those out and it’s likely you’ll get a bigger turnout too.

Alternatively, a weekend away elsewhere can prove just the trick. Think about what you all enjoy and find a city or destination that suits you. For example, if you’re a big football fan, then why not consider booking an away trip to Germany or Spain? For beer connoisseurs, then Belgium could be the perfect destination. Pull together some key interests and plan a trip away based on that.

A day at the races

horse racing

A day at the races has long been a gentleman’s day out and with courses, up and down the country you’re never normally an hour or two from one.

There are some big weekends to look out for if you want to do some of the more famous ones with Cheltenham in March and the Grand National in April. Then there are the likes of the Derby, Royal Ascot and St Leger a little later in the year during the summer months.

It’s a chance to put your glad rags on and experience the high life. Just make sure you look after your stag, you don’t want him to lose all his money before the big day. His partner would never forgive him!

A sporting activity

Healthy competition is always in full flow at a stag do, so why not channel that into some sporting activities?

No matter what sport you love there’s always a way to add a bit of competition, from days out on the golf course swinging a club to days out on the golf course swimming your boot in the latest craze; foot golf!

Five-a-side tournaments, cricket games, darts competitions at bars such as Flight Club are all options while you’ll even find obscurities such as ace throwing these days.

Just do a bit of Googling and you really do never know what you might find even just a short drive away. Of course, whatever happens, you’ve got to make it difficult for the stag, with plenty of forfeits ready and waiting for him.
