8. Los Caracoles Pass, Chile

This road cuts through the Andreas mountain between Chile and Argentina and has many sheer slopes and sharp turns without barriers. Thanks to its unforgiving exposure, it is snow-covered almost all year and this, in conjunction with a complex natural landscape demands patient driving and experience on the calmest of days. Thanks to good maintenance schedules, this road has significantly reduced its accident toll with double-decker buses and trucks using it safely every day.
