Some people love to travel so much that they’ve made it part of their career. For many of us, a travelling profession looks like a pipe dream, and the people who pull it off might as well be superheroes.
The good news is that a travelling profession is not unattainable. There are plenty of ways to make it happen. We’ll talk more about some of them in the paragraphs below.
Your Job Abroad
The simplest travelling profession to get is whatever you’re doing right now. Many companies have overseas offices, so if you’re feeling a bit of wanderlust, ask for a transfer!
If your job doesn’t have any overseas offices or won’t let you travel, you could always look for jobs similar to yours at overseas locations. This may be the perfect time to dust off your resume, look into some resume templates, and see what’s out there.
If you happen to work in a high-demand field, the chances are good that you’ll be able to find something.
Digital Nomad
If you have a job or skills that can be done with a computer, you may be able to make a living as a digital nomad. A digital nomad is anyone with a computer job that allows them to travel at will.
One of the best jobs in this field is travel writing or blogging. Some major publications hire travel writers, so this may be worth looking into. There’s also photography, which can make you some decent money if you’re good at it.
Keep in mind that digital nomad jobs are often less-than-lucrative. The opportunity to travel is worth it, but you’ll probably need a side job here or there to keep yourself going.
The Backpacker
If you’d prefer to do more hands-on work, there’s always the backpacker approach. You can travel from place to place and do odd jobs as you go. It’s an interesting experience and there’s more human interaction than with a digital nomad.
However, it also has risks. Your entire life depends on the chance that somebody else has something you can do.
There’s also the prospect of dealing with people. As the nightly news is so eager to remind us, not everyone is trustworthy. Depending on others can make you vulnerable, so you’ll need to be very careful.
