Sunrise By Jetwing Pasikuda Sri Lanka Review – Direct Beach Access

Sunrise by Jetwing is a new resort situated right on the Pasikuda beach on the Eastern coast of Sri Lanka. In the month of July this is the perfect coast to be in Sri Lanka as it is not affected by monsoon weather like the West coast. Sunrise by Jetwing is one of the most unique beach hotels and a great place to get away from the mundane and hectic normal way of life. When I entered the resort, the reception area was full of contemporary objects and I loved the interior design. The huge open space was a great teaser of what was to come. Here is my full review of Sunrise By Jetwing.

Swimming Pool – 108 Meters of Bliss

There are many other luxury hotels situated on Pasikuda beach, but what stands out at Sunrise By Jetwing was the whopping 108-meter long swimming pool. This gorgeous long pool starts from the dining area and is designed to finish near the beach. It has a ramp which caters for wheelchair access and for those who struggle to get out of the water, using steps. This is very rare to see here in Sri Lanka. There is a dedicated lifeguard which is wonderful regarding children swimming here. This pool does not cater for children under two years old or children who cannot swim. However, the beach access is a stone throw away and they can paddle there. The beach at this time of the year was calm and wonderful to swim in. The hotel grounds had many seating areas and plenty of hammocks to lounge around, which again is not common at many resorts. I loved lying here watching the amazing sunrise at 6:03 am every morning.

Room

The rooms are spaciously located across three separate wings. My room was simple, modern and had ample of the seating area. I liked the fact I had my own private outdoor terrace, where I could work outside and also take in the view of Pasikuda beach. The bed was very comfortable and I liked the bamboo light which was trending throughout the hotel. The internet connection here was very good and as far as watching TV there was plenty to watch for those who want to take in a movie.

Love this, as I could work outside and there was also a dedicated outside electric socket which was not common here in Sri Lanka.

Bathroom

The bathroom was nice and I liked the tiles which gave it that modern look. I liked how there was a separate sliding door for both shower and toilet. I also liked how the toilet was nicely tucked away. The shower was very powerful and had plenty of hot water. There were ample of big large fluffy towels too.

Breakfast

For breakfast, I had two options in where I could sit outside near the pool or if it was too hot I could stay inside. It was nice to be able to sit so close to the pool, with an ocean view in the distance. The breakfast offered enough variety for both children and adults. The pastries were very nice too and I liked how there were nut options too. Sri Lanka is renowned for its cashew nuts, which tasted brilliant here.

CoCo Spa Signature

In Sri Lanka, a dedicated spa area within most hotels is not that common at all. So Sunrise by Jetwing has teamed up with CoCo Spa, which has excellent treatment rooms for high-end luxury spa experiences. Whether I was seeking a total holistic holiday experience with a complete wellness package or just looking to treat myself to a few hours of divine pampering, I was excited to experience my first ever Sri Lankan Spa treatment. This spa was a secluded sanctuary of complete privacy, where I could leave myself in the hands of qualified therapists. On this occasion, she was from Bali, which I am very familiar with regarding treatments. I had a 90-minute treatment called CocoSpa Signature, which was a combination of massages.

The CocoSpa signature is designed to soothe my senses which resulted in me falling asleep during the treatment, which is very rare for me. It was a fantastic experience and the highly trained therapist worked on my body from head to toe. She knew exactly what method of massage to use on me. I loved the hot stones that were used during this treatment, alongside the bespoke oils made for me, which resulted in me being taken on a journey of flowing tranquillity.

The Spa also offers a wide range from a simple massage to a full program of specialised healing, in where I could choose my own indulgence from the extensive spa menus. This includes traditional Ayurvedic and naturopathy cures. Take the time whilst staying here and book in a treatment. It’s a rare setup and one worth investing in.

Conclusion

My review of Sunrise By Jetwing was a pleasant one and the resort certainly lives up to its name. Every morning I would wake up to see the sunrise at 6:03am. I was greeted by the calm seas and the soft sand. There was hardly anyone walking on the beach at that time. Sri Lanka is truly a beautiful nation that consists of nature and here you find a quiet secluded environment. The people, the food and the country itself is why I will return to this hotel again. And yes I did swim the whole length of that 108-meter pool 10 times. Thanks for a great stay.
