Flower Power
Robbie Honey has acted as trusted collaborator for many of fashion’s finest, from maverick spirits to the great fashion houses. He has become best known for his inspired approach to envisioning brands in blooms, as well as for the exquisite pieces he creates. Robbie Honey has created flowers for Vivienne Westwood, Mary Katrantzou, Christian Dior and Valentino. Now that’s Flower Power at its best. We leave it here to Robbie himself who will tell a bit more.
In The Beginning…
I have always been passionate about flowers and chose to make a career out of this passion when I moved to London in 1998. Early on I realised the mutual relationship between the fashion world and flowers and I love this symbiosis.
My Favourite Floral Piece to Date…
I fondly remember a particularly vibrant pair of floral trousers by Paul and Joe that I used to wear which were rather reminiscent of Marc Jacobs’ ensemble for his AW13 show.
My Floral Style Icon Would Be…
Marc Jacobs and his approach really appeals to me, however, what I wear needs to fit every element of a hectic London lifestyle, with early starts at New Covent Garden, time spent at my office on the Kings Road, and meetings at the Chelsea Physic Garden.
My Thoughts On This Seasons Floral Style…
I am loving the resurgence of floral elements in men’s fashion! I have always been known to include floral accents to my sartorial style – while some men can pull off the full look I am more comfortable in dabbling in this arena – I am often surrounded by flowers and I try not to look too ridiculous! If you ever want to learn the skill Robbie teaches in London, New York and Beijing.
