I happened to notice this store in East London. I fell instantly in love with innovative designs. Annika Sanders and Kerry Seager founded Junky Styling in 1997. Their inspiration came from recycling places such as San Francisco and Tokyo. Not a surprise to be told, that they get their resourcefulness from Vietnam and Thailand. The mixture of colours, materials and edgy angular cuts are so up my street.
What is their style
It was refreshing to be told that all garments are made from the highest quality second-hand clothing, re-cut and completely transformed. Excited to be told, that no two garments are never exactly the same. This shop offers individuality where you can own a piece all to yourself.
Re-vamp your favourite suit
What attracts me to this shop is that you can bring fabrics or clothing you have sitting in your wardrobe and get them to redesign it. I have a brand new YSL pinstripe men’s suit, picked it up for £10. The material, fabric and quality are amazing. So it’s time to bring it into Junky Styling. I will know that it will be tailored and created for my other half and it will be a design that you won’t see too often.
The New Yorker described it as ‘an eccentrically chic line of mutant couture’., a design concept which led Vogue to describe Junky as ‘high fashion street couture’.
When you see their collections it is a fab example of high creativity and miles away from mainstream fashion. Junky Funky, illustrates men’s fashion to another level.
