Style Tips from Fred Mwangaguhunga

Media king, Fred Mwangaguhunga has experienced both the highs and lows of life in New York City — he grew up in Queens, later lived in some of the most rugged parts of Brooklyn and now spends his time between his TrIBeCa loft (fun-fact: Neighbourhood residents include, Jay-Z & Beyonce) and Hamptons home (list of fancy residents too long to name). He is the founder of the worlds largest urban celebrity blog Mediatakeout, and is no stranger to star quality style. Naturally, based on his diverse background, we knew he’d be the perfect subject to poke at and get some style advice.

Below are some of his must-have essentials!

Weekend Bags

  • Vintage Louis Vuitton Carry All
  • Black On Black Gucci Duffle

“I live in Manhattan, NY for most of the year, but in the summer I frequent the Hamptons often.  For those weekend trips it’s always great to have a reliable weekend bag.  My two favorite go-to’s are a vintage Louis Vuitton Carry All and a black on black Gucci Duffle.  Both bags compliment any outfit well and are timeless pieces that will give you years of use.”

  • Tom Ford wayfarer made into prescription glasses
  • Vintage Gucci gold aviators with made into prescription glasses

“While I’m at the office or attending meetings, I like to wear my Tom Ford prescription glasses – I believe they’re a tortoise shell exterior.  These are great because they go well with any color scheme outfit you may have on.  On nights out or on the weekend, I like to wear a pair of gold vintage Gucci aviators which I had the original lenses removed from and substituted with prescription.  This pair is a little more on the flashy side, you don’t need to wear to much to stand out with these, they make a statement all on their own.”

  • Yeezy boost 350
The hottest sneaker of the season if not the year, is the Yeezy boost.  If you’re going to wear sneakers this is definitely the pair to rock. Ever since I got these Yezzy’s they have become one of my most favorite pairs in my collection.
The sneaker is minimalistic in style and I think thats actually what makes it great.  Its definitely a kick I recommend everyone get”

  • Vintage Casio Watch

“My Casio watch is not only a vintage style piece but also a conversation piece.  Any time I wear this I get stopped and asked where I purchased it.  Its an eye catcher and a trip down memory lane.  If you’re looking to stand out with a watch, this is definitely a unique way to do so.”
