Wardrobe Purge – Clothes you Absolutely Need to Get Rid Of

Gentlemen, If fashion is your religion, then your wardrobe is your temple. And, like all temples, your wardrobe has to be treated with care and reverence. There are certain items that you simply are not allowed to bring into a temple; doing so would be sacrilege, to say the least, and in general, such a shameful display is unforgivable. These are some of the clothing items that you need to get rid of from your wardrobe.

Worn or Torn Clothing

This could be anything from that ugly Christmas sweater to your favourite pair of jeans. If it’s worn, it’s a clear indication that that particular article of clothing has reached the end of its lifespan. If it’s torn, you can attempt to remedy it with enough skill, but if not, then it needs to go, buddy. Your clothes say a lot about you and when you wear tatters, that says a lot.

Worn Out Shoes

Yes, a lot of us tend to wear shoes into the dirt. That’s what they’re meant for, after all. But there’s a limit to how much you can wear a pair of shoes. Often times, it’s not that we’re financially incapable of getting a new pair (there are a lot of affordable shoes out there, after all). It’s more of a matter of us being too lazy to search for a replacement. Dirty shoes can be cleaned, but worn out shoes are unsalvageable. And so would your image be, if you don’t stop wearing them.

Election-Themed Clothing

There’s nothing wrong with showing support for your candidate of choice, but after elections, those clothes won’t matter anymore and they’d just be taking up precious space in your wardrobe. They’re unflattering and they’re practically useless after elections. Get rid of them.

Clothes That No Longer Fit

What a surprise. It’s really simple. If they don’t fit you, they don’t belong in your wardrobe. While I’d normally recommend that you upcycle your clothes, ill-fitting clothes are better off donated, especially if they’re still in good shape.

Jogger Style Jeans

Nothing makes me cringe more than seeing a grown man wearing jogger-style jeans. The cringe is multiplied further in 2018 because these clothes have no longer been trending two years ago. Not only does this show your lack of knowledge on fashion trends, it also shows your inability to choose clothing that corresponds to your age. If you want to be taken seriously as a gent, get rid of those jean joggers.

Now, if you’re part of the elite few who have pristine wardrobes but are short on storage space, then you’ve got every right to have customized wardrobes built for you. You can view this as a level up of sorts and well, if you’ve mastered the art of using your wardrobe to its fullest, then by all means, get more.

Because for some men, one stylish wardrobe simply isn’t enough.
