Duchamp
Celebrating its 23rd anniversary this year, Duchamp has come a long way from its origins in a Parisian Flea market. The brand later launched itself as a London based luxury men’s accessory line and under the direction of Marc Psarolis, in 2011 launched its luxury ready-to wear tailoring line.
Despite the name, the ‘Britishness’ of the brand continues to be one of Duchamp’s greatest strengths. Designed and woven in one of the oldest mills in the UK, Duchamp’s fabrics are deeply embedded in British heritage.
Designer Gianni Colarossi, a Scottish Italian was inspired by his apprenticeship with Italo Di Preta, the president of the Italian Academy of Tailors. Colarossi understands the importance in evolution and bringing science of tailoring to the contemporary man. Quality and detailing are paramount, as you can see with linings and patterns which are exclusive to Duchamp and are made by their in house textile designer, making it even more luxurious.
Duchamp offers a Contemporary fit, which is neither slim nor classic, a style that defines the Duchamp man. Offered in both single and double breasted as well as three piece suits, the SS13 collection allows every man to embrace their inner dandy.
Essential Wardrobe For The Modern Dandy
The Spring/Summer 13 collection is the essential wardrobe for the modern dandy who loves dressing up, with sharp suits and dress shirts whilst wanting to maintain a sharp tailored look in his casual wear. This is achieved through the collections two elements; dressing up and dressing down.
Colour and luxury is integral within Duchamp’s DNA. This collection is bursting with electric blue and berry reds which complement the jacquard and herringbone fabrics to create a feel of opulence and the perfect occasion wear.
The heritage fabrics are mixed with functional materials to create heavily detailed pieces. Colarossi has used three different types of fabrics throughout the collection; elaborate silks from Italy, rough and ready wool from Scotland and rich linen from England. The use of these materials creates a dynamic summer wardrobe for the modern gentleman.
Horn Buttons
What sets Duchamp apart is their attention for detail, from the horn buttons to the proportion of each and every garment. Every detail is meticulously calculated to ensure the best quality. For a fresh take on modern summer tailoring the linen jackets are unlined to keep the dandy cool calm and collected whilst maintaining its structure.
This collection encapsulates who the Duchamp man is; he is the guy that everyone wants to know. He is the master of self. He is a modern dandy.
