If you’re familiar with Barcelona and are looking for something different to explore, then the Primero Primera boutique hotel is for you. With a number 1 rating on TripAdvisor for Barcelona hotels, I was keen to stay here. This is a family owned boutique hotel and when you walk in to the reception area you instantly get that vibe. Across the hotel there are various family photos and old Formula 1 images showcasing the history of the hotel. Which is really nice to see and a unique experience too.
The furniture in the lounge area combined with a fireplace gave the hotel a warm and welcome feeling as you enter, in fact it did not feel like a hotel at all. The hotel location was close to public transport which gives you excellent access to the rest of this vibrant city. It is A 4-minute walk from the Les Tres Torres metro stop, which is a direct line to Placa de Catalunya. The hotel is located 3 km from Park Güell and 4 km from the Sagrada Família, the renowned unfinished basilica.
Reception
Room 34 Suite Room
There are only 30 rooms to choose by which is great. I was given the Suite room, a spacious room of 55 m2, with views overlooking the garden. There were carpeted floors and a spacious king bed which can also be made into 2 single size beds. The bed was perfect for a great night sleep. I am a big fan of nice bed linen and big pillows and this ticked all the boxes.
The separate lounger over looking the gardens was really nice. I lay down here and teamed with some nice goodies form the mini bar, it was a real nice treat. There was lovely tea and a kettle too which is not very common in Spain. The plush room provided free Wi-Fi, which was really fast, a nice flat-screen TV and an iPhone dock to dance the night away in this big room. In fact I held a couple of meetings in this room as it had everything I needed to impress my guests.
The bathroom was lovely and it had a proper hairdryer in it, which most hotels have forgotten the importance of this. Especially when I was about to present to 140 women, so my hair looked great thanks to Primero Primera.
Complimentary Breakfast
My room included a complimentary breakfast buffet. The breakfast room which is normally the restaurant bar was lovely. The interior design and the original furniture that belonged to the families who lived here before, gave it a real authenticity. The plates and the setting wanted me to just chill and remain in the breakfast area. The Formula 1 memorabilia on the walls looked very cool indeed. I liked that you can have access to the garden and in the summer the pool is grand too. The breakfast was fresh and had a lot of variety for you to indulge in and the service was very lovely. The plates through out the hotel were just adorable.

For those who come by car there is parking available for a fee. Other amenities include, an exercise room, a business center, plus an self-service bar, which is called the honesty bar. The bar was so nice to sit in with others if you’re up for being social and don’t want to eat. The lounge with a fireplace was a great way to meet new people. Whilst I was staying here, there was an Italian fashion brand from Milan showcasing its latest bespoke collection. The setting and clientele were perfect in a place like this. It is a lovely setting for conferences and business meetings in where the atmosphere is very welcoming.
Conclusion
If you want to stay in the number 1 rated hotel according to TripAdvisor and want to stay outside the tourist area but within close reach, then this is the hotel for you. It is small has a boutique feel and it has bundles of character.
